پروژه به این صورته:

سوال اول:

There is an existing two-lane roadway that experiences an AADT of 3,300 with 15% trucks each day. The pavement structure consists of 150 mm of asphalt concrete over 200 mm of gravel base and an A-7-6 subgrade and the groundwater table is 3 meters below the surface of the pavement. Conduct a pavement performance analysis for the following scenarios:

1. Existing structure and conditions

2. The climate conditions change so that the subgrade is completely saturated 20% of the time

3. The pavement is rehabilitated using Full-Depth Reclamation (assume this is conducted to a depth of 250 mm) and surfaced with 100 mm of asphalt concrete

Your results should include a comparison of the different scenarios. You may use any analysis approach that you wish, just be sure to clearly describe or reference any assumptions that you use.

Pavement Cracking Test Data Analysis Activity

Please find attached with this document an Excel spreadsheet titled: “Asphalt Cracking Test Result

Data”. This spreadsheet consists of cracking (fracture) test results for several asphalt mixtures. For

several sets of mixtures, tests were conducted on multiple sets of samples. The average of each mix ty

is shown with bold row (with Replicate Set ID such as, “MDR 0-2016-183 MEAN”, “2017-2-1-MDR104-

TtSp-BM” and “2017-09-8-SPWED440E-MDR143”). For each of these mixtures there are 6 sets of

cracking indices (Fracture Energy and Cracking Index-1 thru Cracking Index-5) that have been calculate

using disk-shaped compact tension (DCT) fracture test. For each of these indices, coefficient of variatio

(CoV) has also been calculated and reported in the spreadsheet. The “mix information” (column G) of

the spreadsheet provides the designation of the mix according to MnDOT 2360 specifications (attached

to this document). Using this designation as well as other information shared with you in the

spreadsheet (such as, asphalt binder PG grade, gyration level etc.), you should conduct an analysis to

correlate asphalt mixture properties with fracture energy and cracking indices.
