We would like you to consider the design and engineering of a food grade extruder.  You do not need to come up with a detailed CAD design however some element of CAD may assist in your presentation.  The material that you will be printing will be a viscous fluid of about 2200 centipoise. You can assume that it is uniform with no dense inclusions. The density of the fluid can be taken to be approximately 1.1g/cm^3.  The fluid will cure if exposed to a temperature of 22deg/c and takes approximately 7 minutes to cure. If stored at 6deg/c the fluid will be viable for approximately 24 hours.

Identify and discuss the main design considerations of this extruder.

Calculate the approximate pressure required on the fluid to extrude it through a nozzle diameter of your choosing. Specify the volume of material that is being extruded and in what shape of container it is held.

Research various methods that could be used to extrude a viscous fluid like the one we are considering.

Using the results from point 2 and 3 calculate the ideal volume of fluid that can reasonably be extruded using a NEMA7 stepper motor.

From point 4 estimate the time that it will take to extrude the complete volume of fluid. 

Assess the effectiveness of the system using parameters like the ones above and include others like the mass of the extruded and identify further areas of research and engineering refinement through processes like geometry optimisation.
